Day 43 – Buffalo, NY, to Victor, NY, 79.1 miles, 2,901 ft elevation gain. It was quite chilly as we assembled just outside the door of the hotel this morning, a mere 59 degrees. And it only warmed up to 64 by the end of our ride – which is odd since the Midwest is dealing with an intense heat wave as I type. And tomorrow’s forecast for this area is very similar to todays. Weird.
The forecast also called for winds coming from the northwest, which would have put them at our 7 o’clock, and they did eventually swing around, but for 2/3 of the trip they were coming at our 10 o’clock.
Not a ton of sights and POI’s for today’s journey, (points of interest), but the big highlight was we passed the 3,000 mile mark! It’s incredible to think we’ve covered that much terrain on our bikes! Thinking back to those first days pedaling in California, climbing those mountains in the Rockies, traversing the barren lands of the American southwest, riding past cornfield after cornfield of Kansas & Missouri…. it just blows my mind.
Tomorrow, we ride to Syracuse, New York, 86 miles. The forecast calls for weather similar to todays.
