The ride is actually a bicycle tour organized by CrossRoads Cycling Adventures (www.bigdreambiketours.com). I will be one of a group of ~24 cyclists crossing the country. The tour company handles all the routing, lodging, transportation of luggage, SAG support while on the road, and a ton of miscellaneous things.

My Bike
I’ll be riding a Specialized Allez Comp model, which I purchased in 2005-ish. It is an aluminum frame with Shimano shifting hardware. The crank is a 50/34 and the cassette is an 11-32. The saddle is a Selle Italia SLR SuperFlow model, which is the most comfortable* saddle I’ve ever used. (*comfort is a relative term, considering it IS a bicycle seat!). I use a Garmin 830 cycling computer and a Garmin InReach Mini satellite tracking device.
