“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you have to keep moving.”
And move we did, today. Up and down, and up and down, wash, rinse, repeat….
Actually not a bad ride, about 75 miles from Chillicothe, Missouri, to Kirksville, Missouri. The hills are constant, (3,142 feet of climbing today), but frankly, that’s what we signed up for.
A highlight of the day was the second SAG stop at ~60 miles. We stopped at a family’s home in the country with magnificent views of the surrounding landscape. And the treat was a cup with fresh cut fruit (so good I had 2 servings!) Another rider noticed a bald eagle perched on a fence post near the house. We could have stayed there for hours but we needed to get down the road as our hotel was another 20 miles.
This evening the tour company conducted a meeting with us re the process we’ll follow for the last few days of the tour as we reach Boston. Cannot believe we’re discussing it already!
Tomorrow we 1) say goodbye to Missouri and hello to Illinois, 2) cross the 2,000 mile mark, 3) ride over the Mississippi River!
