Holy cow. One of the most challenging days on the bike I’ve ever had in my life.
Delayed at the start, so I was behind the 8-ball right from the get go. Hammerin’ away, trying to catch up to the others, and the bike begins handling very squirrely. I stop, thinking I have a flat, but turns out the front tire had gone low but not out of air(?) I get the pump out and refill it. Go a little further, front tire holding air fine, then I get an actual flat on the back tire. Pull it off the bike, change the innertube, pump it up, reinstall it. Rolling again, but further behind. A couple hours later, another flat. I get that resolved, begin rolling down the road, and the chain comes off and gets lodged in the crack. So I have to screw around and get it fixed. This is all in addition to the 3 climbs and the relentless Arizona sun beating down all day. Needless to say, I was the DFL rider on the course today (a.k.a. “Dead Frickin’ Last”). Other than that, it was a delightful time! (Can you see my eyes rolling?)
I have some issues to resolve on the bike this evening, and I have my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be a better day.
